WEEK 3 - 4th May 2020 Nursery Home Learning Challenges
As we embark on Week 3 of the Learning Zone, we want to thank you for all you’ve been doing to keep learning alive during this difficult period. We appreciate that it’s a daunting task to replicate the Nursery curriculum at home, especially when the richest and most valuable learning moments come from hands-on structured play activities!
For the next two weeks, our theme is Castles. We love teaching this theme, as there are so many opportunities to develop structured play! Though Early Numeracy and Literacy activities are important; why not use this week as an opportunity to experiment with the other structured play areas? Check out our play-based and topic learning, fine motor and outdoor challenges to see how you can develop structured play at home this week! In Early Numeracy, we’ll be working on identifying shapes with some lovely castle-themed ideas and in Early Literacy, we'll be extending our work on syllables and writing scrolls! Jack and The Beanstalk is our story of the week. Our daily guideline:

Let’s start the week off by thinking about what we already know about castles. Castles are the houses that rich and important people lived in a long time ago.
Ask your child the questions below to find out what they already know, before looking at the pictures.

Rhyme of the Week
Our rhyme of the week is called Brave Knight Song, to the tune of Freres Jaques.
Let’s see if you can stand as tall as a Knight. Now, can you pretend to get dressed up in your suit of armour and helmet? Don’t forget to pick up your heavy shield and sword! Can you make up actions to the song? Send your teacher a video of your actions!
