1.
Take out your number line. Point to a number and ask your child to add 1 or 2 to this number.Ask your child to give the number 1 or 2 more than this number. Check that your child knows all of the ‘add 1’ and ‘add 2’ facts.
Using add and more than helps your child become familiar with different mathematical language.

3.
Use two plates and two items e.g. toy cars/sweets. Ask yourchild to show and describe the different ways of laying out
the items to make 2. Use 2 cups and 3 pens. Ask your child to arrange 3 pens in
2 cups in as many different ways as they can. Ask them to describe each way e.g. 0 + 3 = 3, 1 + 2 = 3 etc. |

Today we are learning adding facts for 4!
1.
Watch this Jack Hartmann adding facts for 4 video – dance and sing along!
2.
Draw 4 smiley faces. Use a pen or similar to partition the set. Ask your child how many faces are on each side of the pen and record. E.g there is 1 face on one side and 3 faces on the other so that would be 1 + 3 = 4. Repeat to build up the other addition facts for 4.
Ask questions -
3 and 1 makes what?
I have 2 yellow sweets and 2 red sweets, how many sweets do I have altogether?
4 and 0 makes what?
If there is 1 sheep in one pen and 3 sheep in the other pen, how many sheep are there altogether?

Today we are learning adding facts for 5 and recognising number names!
1.
Watch this Jack Hartmann adding facts for 5 video – dance and sing along!
2.
Draw a strip of 5 squares and colour the squares to show each of the addition facts for 5. E.g. 0 green squares and 5 yellow squares is 0 + 5 = 5. Record each sum as you discover each addition fact with your child or ask them to record the sum. Ask them how many squares of each colour there are to record their answer.
|
3.
Write the number words zero to five on paper and ask your child to put them in order from smallest to biggest. Ask your child to count out the correct number of items to match the number.
4.

Today we are learning to recognise number names and use money!
1.
Play this game – you have to find the number, the number name and the object! Good luck!
2.
Give your child a selection of 1ps, 2ps, 5ps and 10ps. Keep one of each coin for yourself. Hold up a coin and ask your child to find all of the coins the same as yours. Ask them to describe the coin – is it round? What colour is it? Is there a number on it? Are there pictures on each side? Can they identify which coin it is? Repeat with the other coins. As an extension, your child could also do this with 20ps, 50ps, £1s and £2s.
3.
Set up a shop! Find 10 items and label them with prices from 1p to 10p. Use 1p, 5p and 10p coins to buy items from the shop. Can you count out the correct amount for each item? Take turns being the shopkeeper and the customer. To make this easier, only use 1ps. To make this harder you could try labelling items up to 20p!
4.
Please see Seesaw for the worksheet. Use your number line to help with number formation. The number line will also help with adding. For example if there is a 5p coin, a 2p coin and a 1p coin to add, your child can put their finger on 5 on the number line (the biggest number), then move 2 spaces or jumps (for the 2p) and then one more jump (for the 1p) – what number are they on now?
