Today we are learning the addition facts for 6!
0 + 6 = 6
1 + 5 = 6
2 + 4 = 6
3 + 3 = 6
4 + 2 = 6
5 + 1 = 6
6 + 0 = 6
Ask questions, examples below
Today we are learning the addition facts for 6!
- Use a drawing of 6 fish. Use a pen or similar to partition the set. Ask your child how many fish are on each side of the pen and record. E.g there is 1 fish on one side and 5 fish on the other so that would be 1 + 5 = 6. Repeat to build up the other addition facts for 6 systematically ordering the facts as they are recorded. Notice the ascending and descending number patterns.
0 + 6 = 6
1 + 5 = 6
2 + 4 = 6
3 + 3 = 6
4 + 2 = 6
5 + 1 = 6
6 + 0 = 6
Ask questions, examples below
- 5 and 1 makes what?
- I have 3 yellow sweets and 3 red sweets, how many sweets do I have altogether?
- 6 and 0 makes what?
- If there is 1 fish in one pond and 5 fish in the other pond, how many fish are there altogether
2. Watch this fun number pairs of 6 video – try to join in!
3. Please see Seesaw for the worksheet.

Today we are revising the addition facts for 6 and learning about money!
Write an addition fact for 6 e.g. 2 + 4 = 6 – ask your child to hold up either the tick or the cross to indicate whether the fact is right or wrong. Do different addition facts for 6 as well as ones that aren’t correct. Swap roles with your child so that they write addition facts for you – can they catch you out?!

- Ask your child to make a ‘correction card’ by drawing a big tick on one side of a piece of paper and a big cross on the other side.

2. Give your child a selection of coins from 1p to £2. Hold each type of coin up and ask your child to hold it and describe it – colour, shape, is there a picture on it? Is there a number on it? Tell your child what the coin is if they don’t know. If you have a few of each coin, give your child a bag/purse/bowl of coins and ask them to:
3. Please see Seesaw for the worksheet.
- find a coin like this (hold up a coin)

- find all the coins with gold on them
