Today we are practicing to read number words.
1) Please print number word cards from seesaw or write out your own. Use them alongside your number cards and help your P1 to match the word to the number, read the word for them if they don’t know.
Remember most numbers aren’t spelt phonetically so we just learn them from memory like our frequency words. Work within 5 or 10.

Today we are practising number formation.
1) Practise painting number words on paper, with crayons, markers, pencils, painting (painting using a q-tip can be fun too,) or creating them outside with leaves, stones, shells or anything you can find!
Numbers that P1’s typically find tricky are 3, 5, 8 and then numbers above 9 requiring two digits.

3) Take a trip to the beach anytime during the week and practice these in the sand. Call out a number for your P1 and see if they can write it independently, show them if they can't. (Using a stick sometimes helps!) You can make them as big or as small as you want. As part of our outdoor classroom, we would have been practising this weekly with numbers and letters, if the weather allowed it. Have fun!
