Maths Week 9 - Week Beginning 15/6/2020
Maths topics - Time, 3D shape
Our learning intentions are:
Talk about significant times on the clock
Compare time durations – what takes more time? Seconds, minutes and hours
Describe features of 3D shapes including cube, cuboid, cone, sphere and cylinder.
Monday 15/6/2020
Today we are learning about special times in a day!
1) Watch this fun video song about important times in our day. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/znyyscw/articles/zvrfpg8
2) When we do things in a day, some things are done before others. Just like we wash our hands before we eat our snack. Some things happen after others. Just like we go outside to play after we put on our coat. Talk to someone at home and answer these questions – answer with before or after.
1) Do you wake up before or after getting dressed?
2) Do you brush your teeth before or after having breakfast?
3) Do you wash your hands before or after lunch?
4) Do you have lunch before or after breakfast?
5) Do you watch TV before or after you play?
6) Do you put your socks on before or after your shoes?
7) Do you put your pyjamas on before or after you’ve had a bath?
8) Do you go listen to a story before or after you go to sleep? See if you can come up with some questions like these and ask someone at home – tell them they can only answer with either before or after! 3) Please see Seesaw for the worksheet.

Today we are learning about time durations!
1) Some things last more time than others. It takes more time to walk to school than cycle to school. It takes more time to eat a raw carrot than a cooked carrot. Complete the Studyladder Pod for 16/6/20 and see if you can decide what takes more time.

2) Watch these fun videos about seconds, minutes and hours then complete the activity in the Studyladder Pod.
3) We use seconds, minutes and hours to measure how long things take or last. It takes seconds to do a star jump, minutes to bounce on a trampoline and hours to climb up a mountain.
Can you think of two things that last seconds, two that last minutes and two that last hours? In school, the bell lasts seconds, snack time lasts minutes and play time lasts one hour.
4) Please see Seesaw for the worksheet.

Today we are learning 3D shapes: cube, cuboid, cone, cylinder and sphere!
1) Watch this video all about 3D shapes. Complete the activity below it too where you can match the 3D shape to its shadow.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zf33y9q/articles/zv4fpg8
2) After watching the video, using your body, see if you can make yourself into the shapes in the song – a cube, a cone, a cylinder and a sphere –which one is the hardest? Take photos of each shape and send it to yourteacher on Seesaw, we’d love to see you!
3) Complete the Studyladder Pod 17/6/2020 where you will match the 3D shapes to real objects.

Today we are continuing our learning of 3D shapes: cube, cuboid, cone, cylinder and sphere!
1) Watch this Numberjacks episode about cubes and spheres!

1) Watch this Numberjacks episode about cubes and spheres!
2) Go on a shape hunt around your home or garden. Can you find any cubes, cuboids, cones, cylinders and spheres? Which shape did you find more of? Perhaps if you had some playdough you could make some of these 3D shapes? Which shape was the trickiest to make?
3) Complete the Studyladder Pod 18/6/2020 where you will match 3D shapes.
4) Please see Seesaw for the worksheet.

Today we are learning about the properties of shape – do they slide, roll or stack one on top of the other?
1) The 3D shapes have different properties. They look different because they are different shapes – some have flat faces, some have curved faces, some have edges and some don’t. Because they are different, they dodifferent things! Gather a cube, a cuboid, a cone, a cylinder and a sphere (just use things you have at home such as a block, a cereal box, a party hat, a kitchen roll tube and a ball). Feel all of the shapes and try to describe them. Do they have round, curved bits? Do they have sharp bits? Do they have straight bits?
2) Using your shapes, complete one or both of the worksheets from Seesaw which will let you investigate whether the shapes stack, slide or roll.
3) Watch this fun song about whether shapes stack, slide or roll!
4) Here is another fun song about 3D shapes to help you remember whatthey’re called. Can you spot the extra shape in this video?!
